The children at OLBE were given a brilliant rendition of “You’ll never walk alone” by the Liverpool born, world famous opera singer, Kathryn Rudge. The whole school assembled in the hall and were given some great insights and encouragements to pursue a career in music and singing.
Kathryn was awarded the Merseyside Women of the Year Arts and Culture Award 2016 for her involvement in community music as founder of Mersey Wave Music in her home city of Liverpool. She has performed with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on many occasions. Highlights with the RLPO include gala concerts at Leeds Castle with Conductor Carl Davies, performing at the Liverpool Capital of Culture Opening Ceremony at the Liverpool Echo Arena, singing the names of the 96 Hillsborough victims in Michael Nyman’s Symphony No. 11 Hillsborough Memorial.
It was fortunate that she was able to take some time out from her busy schedule to visit us and be so inspirational to the children. The choice of such a familiar song meant all could join in.
